Good condition of the facade market in Poland

The factors that had the strongest impact on the Polish facade market in 2021 were price spikes and problems with the availability of construction materials. According to the latest report by PMR, entitled: Facade market in Poland 2022. Market analysis and development forecasts for 2022-2027, last year (2021) proved to be a record one, both in terms of volume (square metres) and value (PLN).
Facade market value in Poland
As far as value growth is concerned, an unprecedented growth was recorded in 2021 (+34% YoY), which means that, according to PMR data, the facade market in Poland reached PLN 8.2bn. Such a large scale of increase resulted from widespread and sharp increases in the prices of construction materials, including those used for facade installation. The increase in the average cost of the various facade types analysed in the report varied due to the type of materials used in them, but in each case it reached double-digit year-over-year figures. To a much lesser extent, the increase in the value of the overall facade market this time was driven by the scale of completed square metres, although here too there was a year-over-year growth.
Residential construction accounted for the record size of the facade market, where the construction activity indicators reported in 2021 were the best statistics recorded since the late 1970s.

Despite the very good results, 2021 was not an easy year for the players in the analysed market, whether material manufacturers, distributors or contractors. Current operations were complicated by a number of supply-side constraints, among which cost-side unpredictability and overall market volatility came to the fore. This situation, combined with a persistently very high demand, forced market participants to take a number of adjustment measures not seen for many years, such as buying materials in stock.

In terms of surface area, ETICS facade systems are and will remain by far the largest segment of the facade market in Poland
In terms of the number of square metres completed, ETICS systems are the most popular solution. Their shares exceed the total shares of the other segments of the analysed market. This is mainly due to the widespread use of this type of technology in residential buildings, which outnumber the non-residential ones. The popularity of these solutions is also influenced by the cost of this facade type. It is definitely the cheapest option and this, in turn, means that in terms of value share, ETICS facade systems are lagging behind the combined shares of the other facade market segments.
